THE CHALLENGE

Modernization without a map is a gamble

Most enterprises run hundreds of applications — many undocumented, some redundant, others silently critical. When leadership decides to modernize, there is no objective basis for prioritization. Which systems carry the most technical debt? Which ones block strategic initiatives? Which ones are fine as they are? Without answers, modernization budgets are spent on the wrong systems, timelines slip and business cases collapse.

A rigorous application assessment replaces assumptions with evidence. It gives decision-makers a clear, prioritized view of their portfolio — with costs, risks and business impact quantified for every system.

OUR APPROACH
01

Inventory & Classify

We catalog every application in your portfolio — technology stack, dependencies, ownership, usage patterns and integration points. Nothing stays undocumented.

02

Score & Prioritize

Each application receives a composite score across technical debt, business criticality, security posture and modernization complexity. We use Gartner TIME classification (Tolerate, Invest, Migrate, Eliminate).

03

Roadmap & Present

We deliver a phased modernization roadmap with cost estimates, risk analysis and quick wins. Executive-ready documentation with drill-down technical detail.

CAPABILITIES

What we deliver

Portfolio Inventory

Complete cataloging of all applications including shadow IT. Technology stacks, deployment topology, integration maps and ownership assignment for every system in the estate.

Technical Debt Scoring

Quantified assessment of code quality, architectural fitness, dependency health and security vulnerabilities. Each application receives a numerical score that enables objective comparison.

Business Impact Mapping

Correlation of each application to business processes, revenue streams and strategic objectives. We identify which systems are genuine blockers and which are merely inconvenient.

Dependency Analysis

Full mapping of upstream and downstream dependencies — data flows, API calls, shared databases and batch processes. Critical for understanding the blast radius of any modernization effort.

Modernization Roadmap

Phased plan with recommended disposition for each application: retain, re-platform, refactor, replace or retire. Includes effort estimates, risk ratings and sequencing constraints.

PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT

Anadolu Group

CHALLENGE

Anadolu Group needed to rationalize a portfolio of 200+ applications across subsidiaries to identify consolidation opportunities and prioritize modernization spend.

APPROACH

We conducted a full portfolio assessment over 8 weeks — cataloging every application, scoring technical debt, mapping business criticality and producing a TIME-classified modernization roadmap.

RESULT

Executive leadership received a prioritized modernization plan. 30% of applications identified for retirement, freeing budget for strategic investments.

FAQ

Common questions about application assessment

How long does a full application assessment take? +

A typical enterprise assessment covering 100-300 applications takes 6-8 weeks. We run discovery workshops in parallel with automated scanning to accelerate the process. Smaller portfolios can be assessed in 3-4 weeks.

What do we need to provide for the assessment? +

Access to source code repositories, architecture documentation (if available), infrastructure topology and key stakeholders for workshops. We also need access to monitoring and logging systems to analyze actual usage patterns.

How do you handle undocumented or shadow IT systems? +

We use network traffic analysis, DNS logs and infrastructure scanning to discover systems that are not in the official inventory. These often represent the highest-risk applications and are critical to include.

What deliverables do we receive? +

A complete portfolio inventory, individual application scorecards, a dependency map, a TIME-classified modernization roadmap with effort estimates and an executive summary. All delivered in an interactive dashboard and PDF report.

Can the assessment be done without disrupting production? +

Yes. Our assessment is non-invasive. We use read-only access to source code and infrastructure, passive network monitoring and stakeholder interviews. No changes are made to running systems.
